It’s whether it’s talking to clients or teams, sharing ideas, obtaining feedback, or quickly settling on deadlines and other project details, great communication is essential for any business. Virtual tools provide teams with the ability to communicate effortlessly, no matter where they are in the world or on the other side of the table.

This article uses bibliometric analysis to analyze the most influential contributions and authors in the field of research regarding the use of virtual tools in the teaching and learning process. Its aim is to study and track the progress and development of these technologies within academic institutions and also identify current trends and future applications (Villa and al. 2018).

To achieve this it was necessary to create a citations matrix created using the SCOPUS database, which contains publications that have high recognition in science and a broad coverage of texts that are specialized in each area of study. The primary search criteria were: terms that are equivalent to virtual tools in teaching-learning processes, and the keyword “teaching learning”.

The most relevant articles were those that focused primarily on the use of chats, forums online and teleconferences for teaching and managing education processes. These articles highlighted the advantages of using these tools and suggested that they could be a fantastic alternative to traditional classrooms. They also highlighted that they encourage active participation.
