The review clarifies the concept of mental illness stigma and discusses the consequences for individuals with mental illness. First the authors do a conceptual review of stigma. In the subsequent section, they discuss two major concepts namely, mental illness stigma and its consequences emphasising on self stigma and fear of stigma. In the final segment of the paper, they evaluate three major strategies employed in anti stigma campaigns namely protest, education and contact.
