This paper discusses the causes of child malnutrition in three South Asian countries (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) that account for the half of the world’s malnourished children and situates that gender discrimination is the major cause of child malnutrition in these countries as it leads to poor birth out-come, caring practices and nutritional intake of the children.
