This paper draws on a large scale survey conducted in Beijing in 2013 and examines how environmental hazards and health, as perceived by the residents are distributed in urban Beijing. They also attempt to find the association between hazards, health and geographic context. Using a Bayesian multilevel logistic model, they attempt to account for spatial dependence in neighbourhood effects on health. The results indicate strong associations between exposure to environmental hazards and health. They have also found that geographic context has a major role in shaping the social distribution of health inequalities.
