The rapid growth of electronic products industry in India has also led to the growth in the amount of e-waste produced in the country. A significant proportion of this is also contributed by the illegal import to the country from many developed nations. Improper disposal of this presents serious environmental challenges to the country. The paper is a critical review of the situation and also suggests some radical solutions to the problem by combining plants and microbes to remediate contaminated sites.
