This paper by Kimberlé Crenshaw the proponent of the intersectionality theory presents the socio-political context of the emergence of this theory and further highlight the importance of this theory in capturing the race and gender dimensions of violence against women of color that the contemporary feminist and antiracist discourses have failed to consider.
